Random Thought on Intelligence

Is intelligence knowledge or is intelligence the ability to skip knowledge and go straight to applying an appropriate response?

I won't extrapolate on why i ask such a question... i'm sure a few of you can do the psychological math and figure it out.

I think what you're describing is the differnce between insight and intelligence. Intelligence refers to application of knowledge, whatever form or function. Insight would be that "magic" function that seems to come from nowhere, much in the way you describe bypassing the knowledge and going straight to response. I think intelligence can reinforce insight, much in the way that craft affects "art" (there'a a loaded word". You should take another look at the first 3 chapters of the book "What Is Art?" by RC Collingwood...I believe you still have that one...
